Presidential vs. Parliamentary Democracy
One of the criteria for membership in the EU is that a nation be democratic. However, EU members follow a form of democracy that is different than the United States. In the U.S., the form is known as the "Presidential System"of democracy while most European nations follow a "Parliamentary System." Our question today is: How do the Presidential and Parliamentary systems of government compare?
Class Assignment [2/27/15]:
Part A:
1. Set up another sub-page under 'Unit I: Europe' and title it “Comparing Democratic Systems”
Also "title" the top of your subpage with "Comparing Democratic Systems.
2. Access readings below by clicking on each button and reading.
3. While reading, answer the following questions in complete paragraph format. Be sure to either re-write the question, or incorporate the question into your answer. [Don't forget to use Word and review your spelling and grammar prior to posting and publishing!]
· A. How do the two systems of Democracy differ as far as “branches of government” are
concerned?
· B. Regarding “elections,” how do the systems compare?
· C. Do their leaders share similar terms in office? Explain in complete sentence format.

D. What are the "advantages" of each system of government? [at least two each]
· E. Identify a “disadvantage" of each system.
4. On the bottom of your sub-page, site your sources in MLA format. [If you have questions regarding
